"PUPPY UGLIES"

This is a term we Pomeranian breeders use to define the adolecsent months of a puppy.  Meaning the time between "true puppyhood" and "Adulthood".   This time period usually starts at about 12-16 weeks and will start to deminish arround 6-8 months.  During this time the puppy's coat starts to thin and look ragged hence the term "puppy uglies".  The puppy will also usually go through a growth spurt which makes him look a little out of porportion until everthing catches up to itself.   During this time between 6-8 months old the body will start to gain muscle and the facial features will start to take on more of an adult appearance than a puppy appearance.  The coat will start to come back in and will continue to increase until about one year or so, occasionally longer.  At about a year you should have a pretty good idea of what your puppy is going to look like as an adult.  Full Maturity can take up to 2 years to fully develop your adult Pom.
After a year your Pom will most  likely start his yearly blows of his coat, unless you have a female and this will probably start at her first heat which can start as early as 6 months to a year.

This information is my opinion of what I have experianced with my Poms.  This in no way is an "ALWAYS" situation.  There are always exceptions to every rule of thinking and experiance.  This information is to help new owners with the changes that can occur in their new puppy.

Below are some examples of "Puppy", "Adolecsent" and "Adult" stages.  Some puppies will have drastic changes, other puppies will have a more mild experiance.
